In recent years, public-private partnerships have become more active in the development of infrastructure for electricity, transportation and water resources management etc. in ASEAN countries as well as in Japan. In the current situation, however, there is no common understanding regarding the desirable form of public-private collaboration. As both Japan and ASEAN face a growing shortage of human resources due to the declining birthrate and aging population, public-private partnerships in the development of public infrastructure will become increasingly important in the future. From this background, this seminar aims to provide a forum for government, private sector and university officials from Japan and ASEAN to gather together and discuss the current situation and future vision of public-private partnerships in the development of public infrastructure from both public and private perspectives.
